Trekking up and down in high altitude for 8-9 hours per day in the Everest Base Camp Trails obviously lose around 5-6 kg weight in 12 days trek. But, how much weight you lose depends on the intake of food, water, and proper rest during the trek

It’s our personal experience that ascending to heights greater than 3,500 m can trigger a range of symptoms including headache in the start and dizziness. Men are at greater risk of altitude sickness than women, for reasons unknown.
But your physical regime, food and water intake ( specially warm water with Ginger,Lemon,Honey ) helps to smoothen up the AMS to greater strength.
Our Sherpa’s walking technique on slow and steady steps in the initial days helps the team reduce any such post trekking sickness or any other symptoms.
The incidence rate of altitude sickness depends on various factors, including an individual’s age, gender, rate of ascent, home elevation, overall physical health, previous experience at altitude, and their individual susceptibility to altitude sickness.
Potassium-rich foods such as bananas, greens, avocados, dried fruit, potatoes and tomatoes are great options. In addition, complex-carbohydrate foods like whole grain pasta and vegetables can help maintain your energy and blood sugar levels during your ascent.
We also recommend 3 Liter of water everyday along with hot water and Ginger Lemon Honey / Garlic Honey everyday in the morning and before going to bed help reduce the strain of muscle and help you cop up better for the AMS.
We also have taken some Vitamins “C” dissolvable which also have seen some benefit along with the water.
Would recommend not to eat heavy and oily food and stick to Sherpa Soup with Localized food to be in better accommodation conditions.
It is also advised to drink plenty of fluids 3-4 days prior to traveling to help prevent altitude sickness. Sports drinks like Gatorade or all-natural options like coconut water are great alternatives and fuel your body with electrolytes for better hydration.

We recommend teams not to worry about as the guides have an emergency medical kit to handle any such situation and take the right decision in case of emergency.

In flight to lukla they will not allow you to carry more than 15KG in the airport, if you carry more luggage then they will charge you extra. Hence its recommended to discuss the packing list and carry the minimum for the journey.
There are some, which can be boring/rented in Nepal or sometimes provided by your tour operator specially the heavy item like sleeping bag or down jackets which are really heavy and they are used for one or 2 times only post Namche Bazaar.
Hence requested to discuss the package list during your induction program and avoid taking unnecessary heavy weight during the travel plan.
Last 3 days post dingboche are pretty tough one as you are going to cross the 3500mts mark for the Everest Base camp and most of the time you feel small portion of headache and Altitude sickness, From here onwards your food, sleeping habits and water consumption has to be handled diligently and in case of some symptoms need to discuss with your guide.
He would recommend some food changes (Avoid any spicy and oily food, Do Not drink Alcohol or smoke any form of cigarettes or vapor).
Everest Base camp tour included Mornnign Breakfast, afternoon lunch and night dinner.
It doesnot include the break food in the middle , hot water and additional item if you purchase and we need to be very cautious about your expenditure and keep the case as as you leave Namache bazaar it may happen the ATM POS machine would not work and even they work they will charge you with additional surcharge on top of your conversion charges.
More you reach higher altitude you will get the same facility cost more then the last stop, hence donot be surprised as its take effort to carry those equipment to those altitude. Would recommend to keep 25,000 NPR cash during the travel and also tips for your guide and portar team.

- Buying a bucket of hot water is costlier as they are based on gas and they will cost you high.
- WIFi/ Mobile Charging will be costlier after namche bazaar, requested to keep a good set of Mobile.
- Possibly I would recommend taking some solar charger as that will supplement your charging needs.
- Until Namache Bazaar your SIM will have the internet connection based on the location, post that you have to purchase the internet and you cannot share the code as hotspot feature doesnot work.
- Twin sharing Bed, with quilt
- Post namche Bazaar it would get colder , you may have to use the sleeping bag.
- Shared Washroom and Toilet, keep your toiler paper and toiletries handy.
- Hot water per mug will cost you extra 100 NPR and you need to inform them in advance.
- In Tree house they have the heating area while having your dinner you can enjoy.
- Most of the tree house switch off the light by 9PM , hence we have recommended you to tweak a bit of your sleeping pattern.
- Most guest prefer to start their walk by 7am , as in the afternoon due to high sun/ UV its very hard to walk and mostly guest try to avoid walking post 12:30pm to 2:00 and they rest in their afternoon tree house.
- Please try to reach your evening tree house by 4 as the weather mostly changes post 3pm and you will have more wind and chances of rain, it would make your trip more hard in rain or in windy situation.
Even the tour operators pay their Staff / Guide / porter but the cost of living in the mountains are very hard and sometimes they have to spend all their money if the weather is not good during the time of the trek .
It’s recommended that each person pay 5000 NPR to the guide and 3000 NPR per to the guide, if group of 5 then they make 25,000 NPR for the guide.
If the group is small then request to pay them handsomely as they are the real warrior on the ground and extend all the help you can sense as a community they keep the guest in the fore-front then anything.
