Itinerary
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will assist with accommodation arrangements. Take some rest before exploring Kathmandu's natural and cultural landmarks, including ancient temples and stupas. Attend a trek briefing in the afternoon and enjoy a welcome dinner with your team and guide.

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a guided tour of the valley, where you'll explore a range of historical and spiritual landmarks. Among them are the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Durbar Square, known for its rich history, Pashupatinath Temple, a sacred Hindu site, Swayambhunath, popularly known as the 'Monkey Temple,' and Boudhanath, home to one of the world's largest stupas. In the afternoon, gather for a brief orientation session with your trekking leader and fellow team members to prepare for the upcoming adventure. Rest assured, you'll be staying in comfortable hotel accommodations with delicious meals provided throughout the day. The maximum altitude for the day is 1400m, allowing you to acclimate gradually to the higher elevations.

After enjoying a satisfying breakfast, make your way to the domestic airport for a thrilling flight to Lukla, the renowned gateway to the Everest region. Prepare to be awe-struck as you soar amidst the majestic Himalayas during this exhilarating journey. Upon arrival in Lukla, take a moment to gather yourself before embarking on your trek. Follow a descending trail that leads you to the village of Cheplung, where you can admire the awe-inspiring view of Mount Khumbila, known as the sacred "God of Khumbu." This peak holds a special status as it remains unconquered. From Cheplung, continue your trek through lush woodlands, descending towards Phakding. The maximum altitude reached during this part of the trek is 2860m. You can expect a flight duration of approximately 40 minutes and a trekking time of around 4 hours. Rest assured, you'll have comfortable teahouse accommodations and delicious meals throughout the day.

Today, your destination is Namche Bazaar, the vibrant Sherpa capital and economic hub of the region. The trek begins by traversing through the dense wilderness of the Khumbu region, passing through the charming hamlets of Zamphute and Tok Tok. As you navigate uphill and downhill trails, you'll cross several suspension bridges that span the roaring Dudh Koshi River. Along the way, you'll be treated to magnificent views of Mt. Thamserku (21,675ft), and you'll pass through the settlements of Benkar and Chumoa.
Continuing onward, you'll arrive at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park in Monjo, where your permits will be checked. From there, you'll embark on a challenging uphill climb towards Namche Bazaar, crossing a high bridge that offers stunning views of the Dudh Koshi River gorge. As you ascend, be prepared to be mesmerized by panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and other majestic mountain peaks. Upon reaching Namche Bazaar, you'll make your way to your accommodation and take some well-deserved rest.

On the first day of acclimatization in Namche Bazaar, take part in small hikes to adjust to higher altitudes. Visit Everest View Hotel for breathtaking Himalayan views and immerse yourself in the stunning landscape of evergreen forests and rhododendron trees. Don't miss the chance to explore Khumjung Monastery, where a Yeti scalp is believed to be kept.
Afterward, visit the Tourist Visitor Center near Sagarmatha National Park headquarters to learn about the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture, and the biodiversity of the region. Proper acclimatization is vital for your body to adapt to the thin air at higher altitudes.

Climb steeply out of the valley through lush rhododendron and juniper forests, witnessing the Sherpa culture along the way. The landscape transforms as you ascend, with conifers and shrubs dotting the path. Covering a distance of 5.7 kilometers, you'll pass through Yak Kharka and summer settlements, enjoying panoramic views of Ama Dablam and snowy peaks.
Arrive at Mong, known for its white Gompa and as the birthplace of Khumbu saint Lama Sangwan Dorje. Descend briefly and cross the river to reach the riverside settlement of Phortse Thenga.

Today's trek is a long one, taking you to higher altitudes where the air is thin. It is important to take it slow and rest frequently. Begin by ascending from Phortse Thenga along a ridge, offering excellent views of the valley and Himalayan peaks like Kangtega and Cho Oyu. Traverse through high alpine terrain where the tree line disappears, immersing yourself in majestic mountain vistas. Descend to the river and cross it before facing a challenging uphill section. As you climb, you'll follow the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier. Eventually, you'll reach the small village of Machhermo.

Today's trek will take you to the enchanting village of Gokyo, covering a distance of 6.8 kilometers and gaining 320 meters in altitude. Follow the sparkling river network, marveling at views of the Ngozumpa glacier and Khumjung and Khunde peaks. Traverse high alpine terrain with arid landscapes and flat brown and grey surroundings. After crossing streams and rivers, a steep ascent will bring you to the settlement of Gokyo. Spend the next two days exploring the wonders of Gokyo.

Today is dedicated to exploring the wonders of the Gokyo region. Begin by witnessing a breathtaking Himalayan sunrise before enjoying breakfast. Embark on a journey to discover the series of Gokyo Lakes, a magnificent freshwater lake system consisting of six main lakes. These lakes hold great cultural and religious significance, attracting devotees during festivals. Marvel at the emerald green lakes, starting with the three lakes near the tea house. Continue towards the fourth and fifth lakes, with the viewpoint at the edge of the fifth lake offering astonishing views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and the Ngozumba Glacier. Spend the day leisurely exploring and admiring the sacred lakes before returning to the settlement.

The highlight of the Gokyo Valley Trek is the epic viewpoint of Gokyo Ri, offering breathtaking mountain vistas. Begin the ascent by crossing a stream on the northern end of the village and gradually climbing for a couple of hours until you reach the summit adorned with prayer flags.
While the climb is not technically challenging, the altitude may pose difficulties, so it's important to pace yourself and take regular breaks. From the summit, soak in the magnificent panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, and Taboche, with the impressive Ngozumpa Glacier stretching across the landscape.
Marvel at the series of emerald green lakes. After exploring the Ri and immersing yourself in the majestic scenery, retrace your steps back to the village.

Today enjoy the majestic views of the landscape while heading on a descending trail. Traversing across the alpine territory, crossing streams and the tracks of Ngozumba glacier. Along the way witness views of Cholatse and Cho Oyu peaks. Retracing your steps back you will eventually reach the settlement of Dole.

Today's trek takes you back to Namche Bazaar, with most of the section being downhill. Begin early to cover the 11.5-kilometer distance. Transition from high alpine terrain to lush woodlands, enjoying stunning views of the landscape and snow-capped mountains along the way. Pass through the village of Khumjung before heading to Namche Bazaar. After reaching Namche Bazaar and taking a short rest, explore the various pubs and restaurants in the area.

Today's trek is a complete descent, with multiple river crossings over the fast-flowing Dudh Koshi River and its tributaries. Enjoy the scenic walk through open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, and catch glimpses of the snow-capped peaks in the distance. Pass through several villages along the trail. Upon reaching Lukla, take some time to rest. Later, celebrate the success of your trek and enjoy the last night in the mountains with your team members.

Flights to Kathmandu are typically scheduled in the morning for safety reasons. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, proceed to your accommodation and take some rest. You have the option to explore the city on a guided tour or venture out on your own. In the evening, join a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of your trek.

Today, say farewell to Nepal and the friends you made during your journey with Everest Dreams. A representative from Everest Dreams will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport, ensuring you arrive 3 hours before your scheduled flight.

Everest Dreams ensures a hassle-free process for obtaining the necessary permits for the Gokyo Valley Trek. There are two permits required for this trek:
Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit: The permit can be obtained from the Nepal Tourism Boards office in Kathmandu or the park’s entrance gate in Monjo. The cost of the permit is NRS 3000 for international trekkers. For citizens of SAARC nations, the fee is NRS 1500. To obtain the permit, you will need to complete the permit application and present your passport or a copy of your passport.
Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit: This permit is required for entering the Khumbu Rural Municipality. You can obtain this permit once you reach Lukla. The cost of the permit is NRS 2000, and it can be acquired at the rural municipality counter located on the outskirts of the settlement.
